All of this can be a little tricky. So we’re going to solve that issue today with our best suggestions and tricks for all of the heists of GTA V’s story mode.

In order to maximize the amount of money you get, we’re going to mention each and every trick to get you through the heists with ease. Below are some of the best ways of executing your heists:
Heist 1: the jewel store job
On the very first heist, the jewel store job, go ahead and choose the second option (option B: smart).
Choose rickie lukens as your hacker because other ones might give you more time, but ricke is going to give you the perfect amount of time for this specific heist.
Coming at the side of your gunman, you have to unlock packie mcrearya anyhow and to do that you’ll have to complete his optional encounter. It is a stochastic event in which packie robs a store and needs your help getting away. After helping him, he’ll be available to choose in heists. He is very similar to gustavo mota, but hiring him will be around 2% cheaper. If you want to take richards as your gunman instead, he will crash during the getaway. You can grab his money by driving over his bag after the crash, which will give you a boost of money but you will lose norm.
Choose karim denz as your driver for this heist. The chase progression will be more difficult, but denz will take less of your money.
If you select option A instead, choose eddie toh as your driver. He gets 6% more than denz, but eddie will let you get $4,946,153 (the greatest possible amount), which will leave you with $293,539 for franklin and $1,076,304 for michael, a notable increase over the amount you will get if you take karim denz along for option A.
Score: your total profit should be a hue under $5 million with around $1.2 million going to michael and just under $300K going to franklin.
Heist 2: the merryweather heist
The second heist isn’t about the money. The merryweather heist gets you a vehicle as a reward for another heist, so do not hesitate in this one and chose whichever crew you want. Just enjoy through the heist as the end is going to be the same no matter what happens.
However, in the merryweather heist finding the score in the deep sea can be a little pesky, so we’ve attached a video of the whole heist below for your ease:
Heist 3: the paleto score
The paleto score is the third heist in the story mode of GTA V. You waste money every time you or one of your crew members are shot in the back. You begin with a peak attainable score of $8,016,020.
If you chose packie mcreary for the jewel store heist (first heist), select him as your gunman, because his stats will be greater because of the previous heist. If not, then take chef. Both men cost 2% less than gustavo mota, even if he may be somewhat better.
Furthermore, if you choose either daryl johns or norm richards for the heist, you’ll be obliged to leave that character behind. Although you can pick up his share for a higher take. If are going to do this then we recommend using daryl johns (and leaving him behind) because norm richards can be good to use for the final heist.
Score: your total profit should be just over $8 million with about $440K going to each of michael, trevor, and franklin.
Heist 4: the bureau raid
The bureau raid is the fourth and the second last heist, in this one go ahead and choose option B (the roof entry) without a second thought.
Select rickie lukens as your hacker because using a better hacker will have no effect at all. Then select norm richards as your gunman.
On the other hand, for your driver, you must unlock taliana martinez by completing her optional encounter/mission. It is an arbitrary encounter where you are going to find taliana beside the freeway in the northeast area. Save her life by driving her to the sandy shores in time. You require her as your driver because she is one of the best and her asking price for the heist is 9% lower than eddie toh’s. Surprisingly, in this heist, she’ll wait for you in an ambulance, so you completely avoid the police in this manner. Unfortunately, if you haven’t unlocked taliana then take karim denz as your driver. If you used him properly in the first heist, he will also have an ambulance. Otherwise, you will have to escape the police in a van.
If you chose option A, you aren’t going to get significantly less money than in option B, but norm richards will die if you selected him, we can’t lose him because he is worthy to have for the last heist. Take packie mcreary or gustavo mota instead.
Score: michael will get zero while franklin receiving around $240K.
Heist 5: the big score
This is the last and the final heist, choose option B. It is plausible to get $41,664,000 per person this way.
Choose taliana martinez as your first drive. She will fly the chopper (helicopter) successfully without any hassles and she’d only take 5% of the money. Also select karim denz as your second driver, so that he drives the train. The gunmen in this heist are not necessary, so take the cheapest gunmen you can.
In case if you chose option A, the greatest amount you can get is $34,892,000 per person. Once again, select talian martinez and karim denz as your primary drivers. Select either packie mcreary or chef as your first gunman. Take norm richards or daryl johns as your secondary gunman. Either way will save you a handsome amount of money in this heist. In terms of hacking select rickie lukens.
Score: each of trevor, michael and franklin will get over $41 million!

Karim denz is a character in the HD universe who appears as a minor character in grand theft auto V. He is voiced by matt hopkins.

Character history
Karim denz is, in 2013, a getaway driver who michael de santa can hire for certain heists. The player can choose to use his services for eight percent of the heist's take. Denz has decent initial skills in terms of driving and composure; however, he has a poor initial vehicle choice ranking.
Role in heists
The jewel store job
If chosen, karim denz sources pegassi bati 801 sports bikes for the getaway, which perform poorly in the wet and muddy tunnels of the los santos metro and the sewers. While raiding the cases, he has a chance of losing some of the jewelry. Also, he fails to give franklin any directions in the crew's getaway, and if norm richards is chosen as the gunman, denz loses his bearings in the tunnels, delaying the crew's getaway.
The bureau raid
If the player chooses the "roof approach" and selects denz for the first time, he shows up late, forcing michael, franklin, and the chosen gunman to hold off more FIB agents and LSPD. He also shows up in a slow van, and due to the firefight, michael or franklin has to evade a four star wanted level, before returning to franklin's house. If the player previously used denz in the jewel store job, he learns from his past mistake and shows up just in time in an ambulance, allowing the crew to stealthily leave downtown los santos; however, there is a chance of their cover being blown if the player chooses an inexperienced gunman.
The big score
If the player chooses the "loud approach", denz can either pilot the second helicopter or operate the locomotive. If denz does not have experience from previous heists and is chosen as driver number one, denz crashes his helicopter into one of the windmills of the RON alternates wind farm, causing the crew to lose half of the take. If denz has experience from at least one job, then he will not crash the helicopter. If denz is chosen as driver number two, then he operates the train and there is no consequence regardless of his prior experience.
If the player chooses the "subtle approach", denz can either drive the fourth gauntlet or be on the tire changing crew. If denz does not have experience from previous heists and is chosen as driver number one, he crashes his car and is arrested by the LSPD, losing one quarter of the take. If denz has experience from at least one job, then he will not crash his car. If denz is chosen as driver number two, he changes the tires on the securicars quickly regardless of his prior experience.

In grand theft auto V, heists are story missions. There are six missions, each requiring careful preparation and execution. If you successfully complete these jobs, you can earn millions of dollars. The ability to replay these missions also exists.
As mention above millions of dollars are on the line, so here is a step by step guide (reddit user flowers4charlie) on how to get a highest possible share of money from each heist in GTA V. BEWARE guys possible spoilers ahead, read at you own RISK.
This is what reddit user flowers4charlie has to say about his guide: I did some testing via mission replays to see how much money I could get for each individual heist and decided to make a guide for it. I’ve marked the description of each heist with spoiler tags, so people who haven’t completed those heists, or don’t want to know what they are until they are able to do them won’t have them spoiled. I’ve also included an imgur link to an awesome low-quality picture of each ‘heist passed’ screen. If you have any corrections for me or catch anything I missed, please let me know! Now, on to the heists:
Heist #1 : the jewel store job
Crew : hacker – rickie lukens, gunman – packie mcreary, driver – karim denz
Summary: using rickie lukens gives you enough time to grab all the jewelry in the store. Having a better hacker just gives you more time that you don’t need. Packie is a better choice than gustavo mota for your gunman, as he performs the same but costs 2% less. To unlock packie as a heist crew member, you must complete his random event where he is robbing a store near franklin’s house and needs a getaway driver. If norm richards is used as a gunman, he’ll crash during the getaway, causing you to lose his portion of the take. If you pick up his bag by driving over it after he’s crashed, you’ll get more money in the end (thanks to /u/lasers32 for confirming this). (edit: you’ll probably want to keep norm around for the last heist where he’ll save you a lot of money). Using karim as the driver makes the chase sequence a little bit harder because you have to ride street bikes through dirt rather than dirt bikes. This doesn’t affect your take, so he’s a better option that eddie toh who takes 6% more. But if you choose to do option A of this heist, bring along eddie toh as your driver. With karim, the most money you can get from the jewelry store with option A is $4,642,813, leaving michael with $1,071,404 and franklin with $257,138. With eddie however, you can get the full $4,946,153 which leaves michael with $1,076,304 and franklin with $293,539 – A $4,900 increase for michael and a $36,401 increase for franklin.

Summary: no matter which way you choose to do this heist, you’ll still make $0. So there’s really no point in having it on this list, but I’ll write a fake summary here so people who are only looking at the first heist won’t wonder why there’s no summary for this heist. So in order to fill up some space here, I’ll just say random stuff. I really wish this game had more than 5 heists. That’s really the only major complaint I have with this game. Hopefully, rockstar will release some single player DLC that adds more heists, or just places to rob in general. Hopefully, GTA:O has more big heists to pull off. Anyway, here’s a heist pthe assed screen.
Heist #2 completion screen

Approach : N/A for this heist
Crew : gunman – packie mcreary (if you took him on the jewel store job), or chef
Summary: for this heist, every time you or your accomplices get shot in the back, you lose money. You start with $8,016,020, and if you play really well you might be able to keep it above 8 million. Packie mcreary and chef are the best to bring along for this heist (packie having a slight edge in stats if you brought him on the jewel store job), as they perform pretty well and cost 2% less than gustavo mota. If you bring norm richards or daryl johns, he’ll be hit by a police car and pinned against a wall about halfway through the mission, and you’ll be forced to leave him behind and lose a third of the money. You are able to pick his money up which results in a higher take (thanks to /u/halpmeimdieing for confirming this). (edit: you’ll probably want to keep norm around for the last heist where he’ll save you a lot of money).
Heist #4 : the bureau raid
Approach : option B (roof entry)
Crew : hacker – rickie lukens, gunman – norm richards, driver – taliana martinez (or karim denz if you don’t have her)
Summary: in this heist, only franklin gets paid, so don’t worry when michael’s cut is $0. Bringing a better hacker than rickie will help you navigate the hacking minigame faster, but it’s not necessary. Norm richards performs just fine as a gunman, so there’s no need to bring someone more talented. Taliana is the best driver as she does just as good of a job as eddie toh, and takes 9% less of a cut. She can be found along the side of the freeway on in the north east area of the map, next to an overturned car. Finding her is a random encounter, and you have to driver her to sandy shores before she dies. She’s absolutely worth it, as you gain a lot of money by using her (especially on the last heist). Taliana will be waiting outside in an ambulance, allowing you to drive past the cops without attracting their attention. If you used karim in the first heist, and again in this one, he’ll also be in an ambulance (thanks to /u/pizza-the-hutt for pointing that out). If not, he’ll show up late in a van instead of an ambulance, and you’ll have to lose the cops. Sometimes norm will shoot at the cops when you’re escaping in the ambulance, and you’ll gain a wanted level. I’ve done this mission without him alerting the police, but it’s not a big deal if he does. During my testing, picking option B only increased my take $33,198 more than option A, so either option earns you a similar amount. If you choose to do option A, however, make sure to bring along packie and gus mota, because norm will die if he comes along (edit: you’ll probably want to keep norm around for the last heist where he’ll save you a lot of money).
Heist #5 : the big score
Approach : option B (obvious)
Crew : driver #1 (helicopter) – taliana martinez, driver #2 (train) – karim denz, gunman #1 – cheapest gunman you have, gunman #2 – again, cheapest gunman (they have no effect on the outcome of the heist, so might as well go as cheap as possible.)
Summary: this is the big one right here. You can get a whopping $41,664,000 PER CHARACTER if you do this heist right. Have taliana pilot the chopper, as she’ll do the job just fine, and she only asks for 5%. Have karim drive the train, because if he flies the helicopter he crashes it (this most likely wouldn’t happen if you used him in earlier heists, but I have no way of testing this). For one gunman, make sure to use the two cheapest gunmen you have, as they have no effect on this heist. If you want to do option A (which I like better), the most you can make is $34,892,000, which is $6,772,000 less than option B. To do option A, use the following crew: packie or chef for gunman #1, norm richards for gunman #2, taliana martinez for driver #1, karim denz for driver #2, and rickie lukens for a hacker.
So there it is! The highest possible take for each heist. Again, if you find any mistakes I’ve made or things I missed, please let me know! I’ll make sure to edit in any changes in strategies if someone points out better ones. Enjoy your riches folks.
Official edit #1 : I’ve got an information man! New shit has come to light! When you let norm richards die in any heist, it unlocks daryl johns as a gunman who is even cheaper than norm (he only wants 6%!). I didn’t know this, as replaying missions only lets you use the default heist crew and the three unlockable crew. So using daryl on the last heist can bring your total up to $38,640,000 per character (thanks to reddit user imavibration for pointing this out). I’ll be sure to edit the summaries and make norm’s death less of a big deal. So as of right now, the totals I got for each heist above are not the maximum amounts. Using daryl johns, or other even cheaper gunmen that may exist instead of norm richards should net you a bit of extra cash. I also have a request if someone could help me out right here: norm’s death unlocking a cheaper gunman makes me wonder how many different gunmen you can unlock when the old ones die, and if those gunmen get any cheaper. For example, if norm dies on heist #1, then daryl dies on heist #3, does daryl get a cheaper replacement? And if we let that possibly cheaper replacement die on the A approach of heist #4, do we get an even cheaper replacement to use on the last heist? If anyone can confirm any of this and pm me or something, that would be great. I’d replay the game myself, but I’m going to be working on getting all the offline trophies this next week in preparation for GTA:O. Thanks in advance!
Official edit #2 : well apparently some people have daryl johns unlocked as a gunman, but never let norm die. So at this point in time, I’m not 100% sure on what unlocks him. If you have both of them, be sure to use both on the final heist as you can make over 40 million per character that way. I’ll add another edit as soon as I know what exactly unlocks daryl.
Official edit #3 : I’m pretty sure at this point that you will have daryl johns unlocked and able to use for the last heist without having to let anyone die or anything like that. I was just unable to use him during mission replays, which caused me to get a lower take on the final heist.

Heist 1: the jewel store job
On the first heist, the jewel store job, choose option B (smart).

Heist 2: the merryweather heist
Due to narrative reasons, there is no money to be made in the merryweather heist, so your performance or actions will have no impact on the amount you gain. This is the first time the three protagonists run a heist together.
There are two possible paths you can take when playing this heist, which depends on choices made in one of the set up missions. If you picked the offshore route, you will need to find a submarine, steal it and take it to a drop-off point. This sub will then be used to recover the target item underwater while using the trackify application on the in-game phone. You'll need to take the item back to the shore with a helicopter while fighting through enemies.
The other route is the freighter route. This sees you discovering the item inside a ship's wreckage instead of just on the seabed, but the rest of the mission is largely unchanged.
Heist 3: the paleto score
For the third heist, the paleto score, you lose money every time you or one of your crew is shot in the back. You start with a maximum possible score of $8,016,020, however the structure of the mission means there is an unavoidable GTA$ 20,000 loss.
If you used packie mcreary for the jewel store job (heist 1), take him as your gunman, because his stats will be raised from that heist. Otherwise, take chef. Both cost 2% less than gustavo mota, even if he may be slightly superior.
On the other hand, if you choose either norm richards or daryl johns for the heist, youвђ™ll be forced to leave that character behind. You can pick up his share for a higher take. If you want to do this we suggest using daryl johns (and leaving him behind) as norm richards can be good to use for the final heist.
Score: your total take should be just over GTA$8 million with around GTA$ 425,000 - 464,000 going to each of michael, trevor and franklin.
Heist 4: the bureau raid
For the fourth heist, the bureau raid, choose option B (roof entry).
Take rickie lukens as your hacker (using a better hacker will have no effect) and select norm richards as your gunman.
As for your driver, you need to unlock taliana martinez by completing her optional encounter. It is a random encounter where she will be alongside the freeway in the northeast. Save her life by driving her to sandy shores in time. You need her as your driver because she is one of the best, and her price is 9% lower than eddie tohвђ™s. On this heist, she will wait for you in an ambulance, so you completely avoid the police. If you do not have/want to unlock taliana martinez, take karim denz as your driver. If you used him in the first heist as well, he will also have an ambulance. Otherwise, you will need to escape the police in a van.
If you choose option A, you will not get significantly less money than in option B, but norm richards will die if you take him (and he is good to have for the last heist). Take packie mcreary and gustavo mota instead.
Score: michael will get nothing with franklin receiving around GTA$ 240,000 - 242,000.
Heist 5: the big score
For the fifth heist, the big score, choose option B. It is possible to get $41,664,000 per character this way.
Take taliana martinez as your first driver. She will successfully fly the helicopter and only takes 5% of the money. Also take karim denz as your second driver, so that he drives the train. The gunmen are unnecessary, so take the two cheapest gunmen you can.
If you choose option A, the maximum amount you can get is $34,892,000 per character. Once again, take taliana martinez and karim denz as your first and second drivers. Take either packie mcreary or chef as your first gunman. Take norm richards or daryl johns as your second gunman. Either will save you a lot of money in this heist. Use rickie lukens as your hacker.
Score: each of trevor, michael and franklin should get over $41 million!
Karim denz or eddie toh
This guide will help you get the most out of heists using the best crews recommended for each heist, in the game. I have finished putting together each detail there is. However, I didn't put in screenshots of the heists.
This guide is best read after completing the game, at least once.
Throughout the story of grand theft auto V, some heist members are already available to use whereas some members are unlocked after missions and random events.
- Eddie toh - 14% cut
- Karim denz - 8% cut
- Taliana martinez - 5% cut (only available once the player have completed her random event)
- Gustavo mota - 14% cut
- Chef - 12% cut (only available after I fought the law)
- ♥♥♥♥♥♥ mcreary - 12% cut (only available once the player have completed his random event)
- Karl abolaji - 8% cut (only available after the bureau raid)
- Hugh welsh - 7% cut (only available after the paleto score)
- Norm richards - 7% cut
- Daryl johns - 6% cut (only available after blitz play)
- Paige harris - 15% cut
- Christian feltz - 10% cut
- Rickie lukens - 4% cut (unlocked after friend request.)
This heist is the first in the single-player story mode. At the end of the mission, "casing the jewel store", you'll be given options to choose from. First options are whether to do it loud or do it quietly. In this part, the choice doesn't really matter. The second options gives you a choice to choose who you want to be your hacker, driver and gunman (there won't be any shooting in this heist).
For the driver, karim denz is the cheapest with an 8% cut. You'll be driving through dirt with a non-dirtbike vehicle. But you'll still get the job done.
The gunman position is best for ♥♥♥♥♥♥ mcreary with a 12% cut (mcreary is only available once you have competed his random event). If it's too late to choose him and you don't mind losing 2%, then you can choose gustavo mota with a 14% cut.
For the hacker, your best choice is to choose rickie lukens with a 4% cut (rickie is unlocked when you get a call from him, after the mission "friend request". He'll give you 50 seconds before the alarm goes back on. (this will encourage you to get one of the optional objectives.)
Choosing a different driver like eddie toh (with a 14%) won't make much of a difference during the hiests. You'll get dirt bikes which make things slightly easier to handle.
If you choose a terrible gunman like norm richards (with 7% cut), he will fall off his bike in the middle of the heist. You CAN pickup his cut that he dropped, but you get casualty expenses which is more than his cut.
The other two hackers are christian feltz (with a 10% cut) and paige harris (15% cut)
feltz will give you 60 seconds and harris 90 seconds to rob the store.
If you choose karim denz, ♥♥♥♥♥♥ mcreary and rickie lukens, you'll get $1,223,073 for michael and $342,462 for franklin.
Both of these heists doesn't require any heists crew to be hired. The two jobs are done by the three protagonists michael, franklin and trevor.
The merryweather heist and blitz play doesn't give you any cash, regardless of what plan you use.
What's worse is that both doesn't get you any money for the three characters.
Probably the funnest mission in the entire game. You run around in armored suits and play as trevor who uses a minigun to destroy cars, while escaping through the paleto bay.
The payout on this heist depends mainly on how you move. Each time you get shot in the back, you drop money. To avoid that, keep your back covered.
You will be given a choice to choose which gunman you want during the heists. Your best choice is either ♥♥♥♥♥♥ mcreary, chef (both with a 12% cut), norm richards (7% cut) or daryl johns (6% cut).
The best choice is daryl johns. Richards and johns will both be killed during the heist. You'll be able to pickup their cash bag after they drop it. There will be casualty expenses, but they'll be lower than hiring mcreary or chef's cut - a savings of $18,000 more or less.
If you do choose daryl, you'll get $462,782 for each character (if you don't drop any money during the heist).
The total take for the heist will be $331,985. The protagonists that you will be playing as are, michael and franklin. Michael won't be getting money, but franklin will be.
At this point of the game, you can choose your cheapest crew members and you won't run into any problems during the heist.
The best choices for the best payouts are:
- Hacker - rickie lukens (4%)
- Gunman - daryl johns (6%)
- Driver - taliana martinez (5%)
choosing cost-effecting members won't make much of a difference for the heist. A different driver than martinez will make escaping harder.
If you do choose these members for the heist, franklin will get $242,346.
This is the last score for the game. You won't get your payout until you complete the last mission where you have to choose between michael, trevor or the antagonists' lives . Choosing the obvious approach over the subtle approach is better, since you'll be using 4 crew members instead of 5.
The best choices are:
- Driver 1 - taliana martinez (5%)
- Driver 2 - karim denz (8%)
- Gunman 1 - daryl johns (6%)
- Gunman 2 - norman richards (7%) or hugh welsh (7%)
in this heist, whoever are the gunmen, won't affect the heist. Even the cheapest crew members won't die or do anything stupid, so gunmen are nothing to worry about. Driver 1 will be flying a helicopter and driver 2 will be driving a train. If you choose karim denz to fly the helicopter, he will crash and lose half of your score.
If you choose the my recommended choices, you'll get $41,664,000 for each character.
