Red dead redemptions 2’s home to lots of things, like a gorgeous landscape, an engrossing storyline and many people to shoot in the face with a revolver. Of course, it wouldn’t be a rootin’ tootin’ cowboy adventure without one classic component - finding and solving treasure maps.

We’re going to keep this page nice and simple. First we’ll outline what sort of treasure map is being broken down, then we’ll list all their locations and solutions just below.

Now that red dead 2's been out for a little while, we've had time to list all of the treasure map solutions below. We'll update this page if any secret maps turn up, but this page should have you covered for the time being!

These treasure maps are only available to those who have pre-ordered the digital version or own the special/ultimate edition of the game.

This means it is not available to those who have pre-ordered a physical copy of the game.

• Treasure map 1: go to the burned out settlement southwest of horseshoe overlook. Go inside the small jailhouse that's still standing and you'll notice the map next to one of the corpses.


• Treasure map 2: this map is found in the saint denis docks. It's hidden in an underground pasage connecting cornwall freight station's yard to the harbor. Examine the wall next to the only wooden crate in the passageway.


• Final treasure: the treasure is lcated in the saint denis cemetery. It's stashed inside the mausoleum with a stained-glass window, to the west of the central dome. Head inside and inspect the wall on your left. This will uncover a secret hole and grant you a whopping 5 gold bars.

All high stakes treasure map locations and solutions

To gain access to high stakes treasure maps, you'll need to complete the chapter 3 mission "the new south". Once this mission is complete, a treasure hunter NPC will appear randomly on the map. Manage to capture and steal the map off him and you'll kickstart the treasure hunt.

• Where to find the treasure hunter: there are multiple spawn points for the random stranger once you've completed the chapter 3 mission "the new south". It seems that he'll appear along much of the land stretching between west eliz and new hanover.


• Treasure map 1: head over to cumberland falls. Skirt along the makeshift ledge that leads into the waterfall and proceed inside. Once you're in, the treasure map is hidden right between two large rocks directly ahead.


• Treasure map 2: the north eastern area of barrow lagoon. Look at this location on your map and you'll notice a large rock formation in the north east side. The treasure map can be found hidden inside the centre of a makeshift log bridge at the very eastern tip of this rock formation.


• Treasure map 3: sandwiched right between fort wallace and bacchus station. Approach bacchus station from fort wallace and head towards clamber up a hillside until you reach the ravine bisecting the two locations. Turn to your left and there should be a path that runs along the cliff edge, follow it along, platform your way down, keep moving left and you'll reach a point where there's an overhang next to a dead end. Search the crack in the overhang for the final treasure map.

All jack hall treasure map locations and solutions

• Where to find treasure map 1: there’s a stranger overlooking the cliffside to the west of latneck station and north east of bard’s crossing. For further reference, he’s near the fork in the road which leads up to caliban’s seat.


• Treasure map 1 location: towards the north east side of caliban’s seat there’s a distinctive hill pocked with trees. Head all the way up to the top, proceed forwards and hug the right side. Eventually you’ll come across an obvious slope leading downwards and a path that runs along the cliff edge. Follow it, being careful to jump and climb your way to the end. Once you can’t go any further, look down to your left and you’ll notice a small crevice. Interact with it and that’s the first map down!


• Treasure map 2 location: head to the west side of the road that runs along the top of cotorra springs. Move inwards towards the south a little so you’re not directly on the path, but running along the grass instead. Slowly loop around and keep an eye out for a curious formation of stacked stones. There’s one that’s got a particularly large, wide and flat rock resting on top (if in doubt, check them all). Simply circle it and you’ll spot a small opening where the treasure can be found.


• Treasure map 3 location: essentially right in the middle of O’creagh’s run, just above the “e” in “creagh’s”. Swim over to the little island and you’ll notice it’s split by a little flat section, on the south side. There’s a loose rock here where the treasure is hiding.

All poisonous trail treasure map locations and solutions

• Where to find treasure map 1: head on over to the cabin at cairn lake to start the treasure hunt.


• Treasure map 1 location: on the south east side of facu rock, west of ringneck creek. Head up the slope and look out for a rotten log. There’s a tree right here, loop round it and you’ll find the treasure tucked away at the bottom of the trunk.


• Treasure map 2 location: west of van horn trading post. It’s in the middle of a field with a strange, man-made stone formation that resembles an eye. Loot the “iris” to grab the treasure.


• Treasure map 3 location: north side of elysian pool. Head into the waterfall, follow the path inside and look down to your right as it starts getting darker. There will be a path leading downwards towards a tiny tunnel. Follow it all the way in, head left once you reach a platform edge, keep following the path down, into a pool of water and climb up the ledge. The treasure is stashed in a pile of rocks just here.

As you travel across the open plains of red dead redemption 2, you might run across deborah macguiness, a paleontologist digging up some bones next to her wagon. You can find her near a rock on a hill just northeast of flatneck station or directly under the “H” in heartlands on your map.

After speaking with her, she’ll give you a mission called, “A test of faith.” she asks you to travel around to discover 30 dinosaur bones hidden across the map. In addition to working toward the completion of a quest and its rewards, each bone found gives you +5 dead eye XP, which will help you upgrade that skill.

How to find and redeem red dead redemption 2 bones

Bones will be scattered across the map hidden among the foliage, on cliff faces and more.

After arthur finds a bone, he’ll jot down the location. To redeem your rewards from macguiness, you need to head to a post office and mail her each location you find. Upon returning one location, you can pick up a quartz chunk, an item you can use for crafting at a fence, the next day at the post office. There are 30 bones hidden across the map, and this guide will show you how to find them all. The first part of this guide will cover the first 22. The remaining eight dinosaur bones are only available very late in red dead redemption 2. They’re below, past an image that warns you of spoilers.

You can tackle them in any order, but we recommend the order listed here as it’ll make your trek easier. Here’s how we’ve organized this red dead redemption 2 bone location guide to make finding them all as easy as possible:

• We’ve grouped bones together by location, in four groups of five, except for the last group, which has seven.

1. Near the “A” in heartlands is an old oil derrick. Climb the ladder below the rig to find the bones in the hole.

2. Southeast of the first bone, just sitting in the middle of the dirt before you reach the rock face.

3. In the heartlands directly east of of flatneck station is a ribcage overlooking the train tracks in the south.

4. Near the “L” in lemoyne at the lower part of the dried out dewberry creek.

5. North of the fourth bone, located closer to the end of the dried out dewberry creek.

6. Above the “O” in hanover, you’ll find the bone in the grass near the abandoned home.

7. On a cliff overlooking the kamassa river, southeast of a small camp.

11. On a mountaintop near the “S” in grizzlies east. Approach the mountain from the north for the easiest trip up. It’ll require a lot of slow walking and it’s entirely possible to fall off the mountain and die getting this one. Be careful!

12. Above the “O” in ambarino, south of the path, hidden in the grass.

13. Near the “I” in ambarino, you’ll find a bone claw in the rock face.

14. Southwest of bacchus station is a cliff best approach from its southend. Climb up it until you find a triangular rock with the bone next to it.

15. Head south from cotorra spring, you’ll find this bone if you drop off a cliff onto a ledge below it.

16. South of the “C” in cumberland forest you’ll find the bone hanging out near the cliff edge.

17. On the other side of the dakota river north of valentine is a bone hidden against the rock face.

18. North of valentine is a a cliff that overlooks the dakota river facing the train tracks ahead. Approach the cliff from the south and find the bone at the edge.

19. Southwest of valentine is a rock face that lies north of the dakota river. You’ll find the bone near the scratched up rock face.

20. Northwest of wallace station is a well-lit cave. Enter it and find the bone in the back.

21. In west elizabeth near mount shawn, you’ll find a bone right near a bend close to beryl’s dream.

22. Directly north of the last bone, you’ll find another sitting in the middle of the trail in the northwest part of big valley.

The final eight dinosaur bones are southwest of blackwater. This area, new austin, is a place you won’t visit until the endgame or the epilogue.

23. Hennigan’s stead luis rover bone location. Follow the san luis river southwest from blackwater. There are several small islands off of the riverbank. This dinosaur bone is on an island that appears south of the I and the N written on the map in “austin.”

24. Hennigan’s stead pike’s basin bone location. You’ll find this dinosaur bone northwest of macfarlane’s ranch, south of the first N in “hennigan’s stead” written on the map. It’s in a canyon. You’ll need to be on the upper level of the canyon — the same level as the rope bridge. Check out the image above to orient yourself.

25. Rio bravo del lobo rock bone location. This is in the area marked as “rio del lobo rock” on the map, just southeast of the K in rock.

26. Rio bravo san luis rover bone location. This dinosaur bone is southwest of fort mercer, just south of the B in “rio bravo” written on your map.

27. Cholla springs jorge’s gap bone location. This dinosaur bone is north of fort mercer, just west of jorge’s gap (which is like a miniature canyon), roughly halfway between the A and U in “new austin” written on your map.

28. Cholla springs high desert bone location. At the far northern edge of the map, northwest of armadillo, you’ll find this dinosaur bone. It’s roughly north of the S in “cholla springs” written on your map. It’s also north of pleasance house and west of rattlesnake hollow, which you’ll write on your map if you explore the area.

29. Gaptooth ridge north tumbleweed bone location. This dinosaur bone is north of tumbleweed, about halfway between the D and G in “captooth ridge” written on your map.

30. Gaptooth ridge south tumbleweed bone location. This dinosaur bone is on the outskirts of tumbleweed, just south of the L in “tumbleweed” written on your map.

What's the best moonshine shack location in red dead online? If you're starting the new red dead online frontier pursuit as a moonshiner, there are a few things to consider when deciding where to grow your hooch-distilling hub.

How close is the moonshine shack to towns, post offices, and fast-travel spots? Are there typically a lot of other players in the area? And how difficult is it to make deliveries along the roads and trails from each shack location?

When you're preparing to buy a moonshine shack, the locations are all shown on a map but there's really no information about which shack location is the best to choose. Here's our advice on the best red dead online moonshine shack location.

How to buy a moonshine shack in red dead online

To begin your career as a moonshiner, you'll need to either be a level 5 trader or have completed at least one trader sell mission. This isn't hard—it just means talking to cripps in your camp, then driving a wagon from your camp to a delivery spot. Once you've done that, you'll be able to visit maggie at emerald ranch to buy a moonshine shack.

Buying one costs 25 gold bars (about $10 real cash, if you haven't earned enough gold bars in-game), so be prepared to fork over all that shiny loot. If you're looking to make some premium currency fast, check out our red dead online gold bar tips.

The best moonshine shack location in red dead online

When buying your shack, there are five different regions to choose from:

• Bayou nwa


• Grizzlies


• Hennigan's stead


• Heartlands


• Tall trees

The moonshine shack isn't like your camp—you'll be sharing the shack with other players who have chosen the same region you did, so don't be surprised to see other players coming and going (they can't attack you if you're close to your shack, though). You can fast-travel to it, but you can't fast-travel from your shack to other locations, which is something to keep in mind when choosing your spot.

Each location has its pros and cons—here's how to make your choice.

Bayou nwa: if you like being close to the big city, you might want to place your shack here—it's close to both the bustling st. Denis and the town of rhodes. It's also not far from the bait and tackle shop and fast-travel spot in lagras. The downside: being near st. Denis means a lot of player traffic. Also, you're in a damn swamp filled with hungry gators. And while the bayou has loads of atmosphere and feels suitable for moonshining from a roleplaying perspective, it's foggy and muddy and not the most beautiful place to spend your time.

Grizzlies: this is a beautiful spot, extremely close to the post office at wallace station which makes it easy to pick up your mail-ordered groceries. There are meadows and a nearby pond and river, great for fishing, hunting, and gathering plants. The problem is making your moonshine deliveries on the winding, narrow, rocky roads in this region—you have to be extremely careful or you'll easily damage your moonshine, which means driving very slowly nearly the entire trip. It's a bummer.

Hennigan's stead: this is probably the most remote of all the moonshine shack locations, way out in dusty new austin close to the san luis river. If you really don't want to see other players while you're going about your day, this might be the best spot for your shack. The closest town is armadillo and there's a fast-travel spot at macfarlane's ranch to the north, but that's about it for nearby amenities.

Heartlands: emerald station is close, which is great for picking up your mail orders. You'll be making a lot of deliveries to annesburg and van horn which aren't all that far, but they're not exactly close, either, so be prepared for some long trips in your wagon. There's some good hunting to do in the area, but that also means you can expect to see a lot of other players. This seems to be the most popular moonshine shack location, so keep that in mind.

Tall trees: this region doesn't get too crowded when it comes to player traffic, and it's moderately flat country so making deliveries isn't quite as difficult as it is in a region like grizzlies. It's also close to blackwater for running errands and collecting mail, and it's right next to manzanita post, which is great if you want proximity to a fast-travel spot. The fence at thieves landing is close by as well. For my money, this is the best moonshine shack location in red dead online.

How to move your moonshine shack

If you're unhappy with your moonshine shack's location, you can move it to another region whenever you want. In the player menu (by default, pressing L will bring it up) under camps and properties, select your shack and you'll be given the choice of where to move it. Each time you move your shack, it'll cost you $250.
